During several visits to the townships of Cape Town between 2002 and 2004 Viviane Sassen (b. 1972, Dutch) took a closer look at the interior decoration of people’s homes, shop and bars — Shebeens. Viviane Sassen is known for her incisive depictions of contemporary African culture.
